The two best things about Chicago are, without a doubt, the summers and the city pups. Chicago loves its four-legged friends, and that’s never more apparent than when you’re walking along the Lakefront Path and have endless amounts of doggos and good boys to pet. We get it – and that’s why we’re one of the most pet-friendly property management companies in the biz! So when  PAWS Chicago  approached us to be one of the sponsors at the  19th Annual PAWS Chicago 5K Walk/Run , it was a resounding YES!

The first Sunday in June marked the 19th year that the  PAWS 5K  has raised funds to support the life-saving work of PAWS Chicago, the Midwest’s largest No Kill animal shelter. This event welcomes more than 6,000 human and 2,800 dog participants to Montrose Harbor to take steps to save the lives of homeless pets. It was a gorgeous sunny day that started off cooler than most expected due to being so close to the lake. But by the time the race started at 9 AM, it was the perfect temperature to keep our furry friends comfortable during the 3.1 mile trek. The race was broken up in to two sections starting with the runners without pets first, followed by the walkers with pets and wagons. One Reside Living resident who began with the runners said her favorite part was seeing the parade of dogs beginning their part of the race as the runners came towards the finish line.

As a sponsor, we were lucky enough to have a tent and table at the post-race celebration, along with one of our favorite  Reside Rewards  partners  Windy City Paws . We arrived bright and early on Sunday morning just after 6:00am with coffee and swag in hand, ready to greet our participating residents and any folks who just wanted to hear a little bit more about us. It was a quiet setup but the second the race began, the post-race celebration area starting booming!

 Thanks to our killer  Concierge team , Marketing teams (including  Reside Athletics ), and Windy City Paws, we had plenty of prizes to hand out as we had visitors play Plinko, a classic The Price is Right favorite that every child of the 70’s onward remembers (if you ever stayed home sick, that is). Prizes included Reside Athletics gear, dog toys, branded water bottles, and restaurant gift cards from some of our favorite Reside Rewards partners. The best part of the day was seeing the many residents and their pups who either ran or walked the race and then joined us at our post-race tent. We had 22 residents participate and they all made sure to stop by for a quick photoshoot with their furry friends. We can’t wait to see their doggos aro und our properties rocking their new Reside gear!
