Chicago Restaurant Week 2019

Thanks to its abundance of outdoor festivals, summer may seem like the season with the most to offer in Chicago. But among the snow and flurries, don’t. sleep. on. Chicago. Restaurant. Week! This two week food tour takes place at the end of every January, conveniently right around the time that most Chicagoans start griping about how “this will be the year I move somewhere warm.” We hope you don’t, however, because even though we may shake our fists every once in a while, Chicago Restaurant Week reminds us what’s so special about this city – food, food, and more food. Here are our recommendations for restaurants to visit during Chicago Restaurant Week. Bonus: they are all Reside Rewards partners, so while you won’t be able to redeem the normal discount during this week, you can check out the prix-fixe menus, find what you love, and go back all year utilizing your perk as a Reside resident! Formento’s (925 W. Randolph)

Some of our favorite dishes from this West Loop Italian spot are featured on their restaurant week menu, including the Bucatini Carbonara (#yolkporn), Nonna’s meatballs, and the Brick Chicken. And since they’re all featured in different courses, you get to try them all (unless Branzino is more your thing, in which case, let us know if we need to add it to our list!)

Franklin Room (675 N. Franklin)

Three words – Crispy Rock Shrimp. Pair it with the Surf & Turf Burger and you’ll leave in a well-deserved food coma. The burger is a Mishima Reserve wagyu beef with soft shell crab, black truffle aioli, bib lettuce, gruyere cheese, and a sunnyside egg all piled high on a bun and served with truffle fries. Margeaux Brasserie

 

Margeaux Brasserie (11 E. Walton)

Located inside the famous Waldorf Astoria hotel, this Gold Coast gem is a francophone’s dream. Their restaurant week menu is so luxurious that it’s almost impossible to choose, but remember, you’ll be back (they are a Reside Rewards member, after all). We’ll be going with the French Onion Soup, the escargot (don’t knock it ’til you try it), and the meal-ending cheese plate served with honey comb.

The Madison Bar & Kitchen (1027 W. Madison)

We’ll be wrapping it up back in the West Loop as we check out this Reside favorite – their restaurant week menu has something for everyone. So if you’re in the mood for a Crunch Spicy Tuna Roll, Red Wine Braised Short Rib, or Sticky Toffee Pudding, you’ll find it here. Stop in before game time at the United Center and make a night of it. See? Chicago in the winter isn’t half bad.
